Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti
An autonomous body of Government of India, under Ministry of Culture

Applications are invited from the interested candidates who fulfill the qualifications and eligibility as per requirement for the post of Director at Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti. It is a term appointment for a period of three years extendable at the discretion of the appointing authority/competent authority.

Education and other qualifications
Essential : (i) Master Degree in Social Science from a recognized University (ii) 15 years administrative experience in Government/Autonomous Organizations/Reputed Non-Government Organizations (iii) Acquaintance with Gandhian philosophy and commitment for constructive work in various social fields.

Desirable
“Experience of working at the national level in the social sector in projects and porgrammes similar to those undertaken by GSDS and/or having authored publications based on original research in reputed national/international journals on Gandhian Studies/Philosophy and related areas.
Note: The educational and other qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Appointing Authority in the case of candidates otherwise found suitable.

General Information
Candidates who fulfill the prescribed qualifications, experience, age requirement and other eligibility conditions as on closing date of receipt of application may apply giving full particulars including date of birth, educational qualifications, specialized knowledge and experience supported by copies of all relevant certificates and a passport-size photograph, all duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.
The candidates may mention the names of three references, at least two out of which should be present/previous employers.
Candidates who are already in Government service and fulfill the eligibility conditions can also apply for the said post. They may send their applications through proper channel along with integrity, disciplinary and vigilance clearance Certificate and ACR Grading for the last five years.
The Special Selection Committee will screen all the applications and candidates found the most suitable for the post in terms of qualifications, age, experience, etc. would be called for interview before the Selection/Promotion Committee.
The eligible candidates who are required to appear for an interview before the Selection Board will not be paid any TA/DA.
The last date of receipt of applications and necessary documents is 60 days from the date of publication of advertisement in the Employment Newspaper. The applications along with all the requisite documents under registered post should reach the Administrative Officer, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat, New Delhi – 110002 and this will also appear in Samiti’s website : www.gandhismriti.gov.in

Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti is the national memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi and is an Autonomous Body working under the Chairmanship of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Sh. Narendra Modi. Under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Gandhi Smriti is ardently engaged in spreading the life and message of Mahatma Gandhi. Our mission is to take the message of Mahatma Gandhi forward through various activities and programmes not only across India but also all over the world. It is informed that we have one of the world’s biggest photographic museum dedicated to the life of Mahatma Gandhi. We also have digital as well as multimedia museum on the life and message of the Mahatma. You would be glad to know that we do not charge the visits to our museums and totally free.
Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti has now added an Art Gallery wherein artists of repute as well as budding artists are invited to put up their paintings/sculptures/art works for exhibition in the Gandhi Darshan Art Gallery housed in the Gandhi Darshan Premises, near Rajghat, New Delhi. It has been inaugurated by Shri Om Birla, Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha on 6th January, 2025 and had, in its inaugural show, put up the art works of eminent artists and has received positive response.
We hereby reiterate our commitment to spreading the message of Mahatma Gandhi by inviting artists to showcase their art work. The gallery can accommodate a capacity of approximately 100 paintings.
