Ans. There is no official record or notification issued by the Govt. of India on the conferment of the title of the Father of the Nation on Gandhiji. As per information available Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, addressed him as Father of the Nation”from Azad Hind Radio, Rangoon, on 4th June, 1944.

Ans. No authentic data is available with the Govt. of India as to who first called Gandhiji as Mahatma. However as per information available. Nobel laureate Rabindernath Tagore had called him Mahatma in 1915.
