Almost 1000 enthusiastic runners barring different age-groups from different parts of Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh took part in the “G-20 Run for Women Power” in Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat on March 5, 2023. The G-20 Run for Women Power was flagged off by former Union Minister and Vice Chairman Gandhi Smriti Shir Vijay Goel and Mrs. Kiran Chopra, Chairperson of Varishth Nagrik Kesari Club and Chief Guest of the programme. Goel also gave away the prizes to the participants on the occasion. The event was organized by Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti in collaboration with Health Fitness Trust as part of the celebrations to mark the International Women’s Day. Former Asian Marathon Champion and Founder Director of Health Fitness Trust was the race coordinator. Inspiring the youth, Vijay Goel spoke about the initiatives India has taken under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that this team spirit also gives us a new way of looking at life. This team spirit we get to learn from such sporting events. Goel said, We are remembering Mahatma Gandhi through this run. We are remembering health through this run. We are remembering freedom fighters through this run. Goel said that by organising this G-20 Run for Women Powerr we are also celebrating India’s presidency of G20 whiihc is headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kiran Chopra said that women played a pivotal role in the freedom struggle under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and they are born leaders. As a society we have to take the responsibility of making the girl child empowered through education. Sunita Godara said that we are proudly displaying the G20 resolution 'One Earth, One Family, One Future' through this race. The other attractions of the programme included Zumba and a thematic dance performance on “Womanhood” by Beni Kalra. As part of this event, Aainball State Championship friendly tournament was also organised. The other guests included Sanjeev Kapoor, Chairman, Sports Grail; Dr. D D Lall, Consultant Pain Physician from Artemis Hospital, Karuna Jain, philanthropist, Sanjay Ahuja, Vice President TFCI and others.
